What should I expect with a Photoshoot at Ruby Jack?
Simply put – amazing fun. We do not book multiple shoots at one time, so when you are having your photoshoot, the shooting room and its surroundings are all yours! We will take you through to hair and makeup, and once you’re looking fabulous, one of our wonderful photographers will talk you through your shoot and help to create a shoot that works for you. It’s all a very stress-free process, and we’re here to make sure you have a blast. 

How long does the photography session take?
A studio photography session usually takes up to two hours – this includes your pre-shoot chat, hair & makeup and your session with our photographers. If your shoot includes a location, which is discussed before your shoot day – then this can differ from the usual 2hr timeline. 

Do we need to come to the studio, or can we go somewhere else, my home?
We have the studio as a base for our shoots, however we also very much enjoy location photography and, when discussed before the shoot booking, we can make arrangements for this. We are also more than happy to come to your home where possible. 

Do you include hair and makeup?
Yes we do! As an all-inclusive photo studio, we offer hair and makeup services, which is built in to the photo session price to make sure you look your very best on the day. 

Do I bring outfits/props?
For a studio photoshoot at Ruby Jack, we ask that you bring up to three outfit changes – preferably coming dressed in one. If you need help to choose, feel free to bring more along and the team can help you pick out what will look the best in photos. We have a small selection of props at the studio, but if you have something special in mind – then absolutely, please bring it in, we love to play.

Can I bring my pet?
Pets are welcome! We just need to be let know before the shoot date so we can prepare and arrange what we need to, in order to include your fur baby in the photoshoot. 

How much do your photos/photoshoot cost?
A photo session at Ruby Jack costs only $139, which includes your hair & makeup and your time with the photographer.  We offer many packages also which can mean that some of the session cost is absorbed into the package deal. If you would like a full pricelist sent out, please contact the studio, but to give you an idea, prints start at only $69, and packages at $320. 

Do you sell the Digital Files?
Yes we do. We know a lot of photo studios don’t allow you to own the digital file as they want to make more money from you having to buy all their products – but we would like you to own these if that is what you’d prefer.  

How do I book a photoshoot?
Thanks to technology, you can contact us now, not only through phone and email, but also facebook and instagram to book your shoot. 

What do I need to do before my shoot?
All we need you to do before your shoot is have some clothing options ready, and come see us with clean, unproducted hair and a makeup free face – then leave the rest to us, just get ready for some fun. 

When is the best age to photograph babies?
The best ages to photograph your little ones is within the first 10 days of your baby being born, or around 6 months when sitting up, but not yet crawling, and then around 1yr old. Obviously, we can photograph your baby any age you would like; these are just the ages that allow for the best possible photos. 

Do you do family/group photos?
Of course! The more the merrier. We have a large shooting room, which allows for many groups – we’ve had up to 20ppl at one time. Just let us know beforehand so we can set it up for you. 


How do we book you for our wedding?
First thing is we have you come in for a consult so we can talk through all the ins and outs of your wedding day. Then it’s as simple as booking in your date if we are free and placing a deposit to hold that date.

What is included on the wedding day?
Unless we have settled on something different for your day, our inclusions on the day are usually-  getting ready shots, ceremony, group and family shots, bridal party and couple photoshoot, and then the rest depends on what the marrying couple would like.

When will I get my wedding photos?
Where possible, we have the digital files to the couple within three weeks of the wedding day.

Do you travel for a wedding?

Absolutely – bring it on! Depending on where we are traveling to, there may be an additional charge, but this is always discussed beforehand.

Have you shot at my venue before?
We have shot at many venues across Auckland, but fear not – if we haven’t shot there before, we always visit the site before the day to get a feel for the place and find all the great places to shoot in.

Do you shoot on your own?
Usual practice is that we have a main photographer and a second photographer on the day, making sure we capture every moment.
